Winslow A. WolfeAge 88 of Elmira, NY passed away on Friday June 14, 2013 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Elmira, NY. Born : August 13, 1924 in Norfolk, NY, the son of the late John H. and Rose M. (Roshia) Wolfe. He is suvived by his wife of 61 years, Lillian A. (Mitchell) Wolfe; children, Winslow Jr. (Diana), Rosemary (Marty) Polovick, Richard, Barbara (Donald) Miles, Lawrence (Dorotha), Ronald (Mary),Timothy (Jean); 17 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; siblings, Thelma (George) Burkum, Francis (Bernice “Bunny”), Mary (Alex) Deshane, Rose Wagstaff. Along with his parents Winslow was predeceased by siblings, John (Joyce), brother in-law William, and Joseph – predeceased infant brother. Winslow was a US Army Veteran of WW II. He retired (August 1982) from NYS Department of Environmental Conservation – Flood Control Maintenance Supervisor Region 8. Loved music – played numerous instruments including fiddle, guitar, harmonica. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a horse trainer and driver for harness racing. Winslow worked for years in construction and maintenance and helped build the St. Lawrence Seaway project. Former Boy Scout master, former member of Southern Tier Polka Club.It was Winslows Request that there be no calling hours and a Private Memorial Service be held at the convenience of the family.
