Willard J. Smith

Smith, Willard J. age 68 of Pine Valley, NY, passed away peacefully under hospice care at home on Thurs., Feb. 9, 2017.He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Janet (Ward) Smith; their 5 children: Sarah (Dan) White, Nathan (Katrina) Smith, Ian (Suzanne) Smith, Jared (Sarah) Smith, Hannah Smith; and 13 grandchildren. A '67 grad of Southside High, he attended Zion Bible Institute (Providence, RI) and Corning Community College, where he helped start a flying club.In 1972 he founded Smith Well Drilling in Pine Valley and operated it for 30 years until ill health forced him to retire.His memorial service will be held at Elmira's Southside Alliance Church on Fri., Feb. 17 at 6 PM, with calling hours there 4-6 PM.
