Virginia I. Herrick

Virginia I. Herrick (nee Lee) Age 87, formerly of Holdridge Street, was born December 12, 1928 in Monroeton, PA. She passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Bethany Manor after a long illness with Alzheimer's. Virginia was the loving wife of William E. Herrick, beloved grandmother of Dennis P. Hoskins who preceded her in death. Beloved Mother to: JoAnn M. (Richard) Sansone of Buffalo, NY; loving grandmother to : Janelle (Hoskins) {John} Cole of Maryland; Karen Piotrowski of Buffalo, NY. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins, especially dear cousin, Phyllis Straw and dear friend, Bruce Taft. For the past three years, Virginia was a resident at Bethany Courtyards and most recently Bethany Manor. A very special thank you for the staff that cared for her. She retired from the Elmira City School District after many years of dedicated service as a clerk in the accounts payable office. She was a long time member of the of the Pennsylvania Avenue United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Che-Ha-Nah and ROSES groups. Ginny enjoyed her many activities with her husband, Bill of 58 years. They enjoyed spending their winters in Florida, traveling and loved their grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira/Southport, NY on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Funeral services honoring her life will follow the visitation at 1 PM. Reverend Bill Vallet will officiate. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
