Bacon, Richard L. ?Dick? was blessed into peace after a courageous battle with cancer, Tuesday, July 31, 2001 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Surviving Dick is his loving wife of 28 years, Ann E. Morse Bacon of Elmira; Daughter, Noreen Luna of Pueblo, CO; Sons, Matthew and Michael Bacon both of Elmira; 3 grandchildren, Daniel, Nicole, Kyle; Mother and Father, Merial Allen of Millerton, PA, Arthur Bacon of Elmira; Brothers, Arthur Bacon Jr., John Bacon, Roy Allen, David Allen, Jack Allen, Sisters, Jean Smith, Linda Allen, and several nieces and nephews.Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY Thursday, August 2nd, 2001 2:00PM to 4:00PM and 7:00PM to 9:00PM. Funeral services will be held there Friday, August 3rd, 2001 at 10:00am. The Reverend Edward Crandall will officiate. Interment will take place directly following in the Woodlawn National Cemetery, Elmira, NY where full military honors will be accorded. Dick was a very hard working man. He loved his family and friends and the special moments they shared. Most recently Dick delivered for Bill Lewis Trucking; in the past, he worked for Corning Inc. and Trayer Products. Dick was very proud to be a Navy Veteran.Those close to him knew him as a skilled bowler, accomplished carpenter, fellow Elmira Moose Member, and a fun loving, very hard working man.Dick will never be forgotten for his courage during the last year.
