Ralph Hoskins

Of West Elmira, Was born October 22, 1924 in Elmira, the son of the late Leonard and Evelyn (Slingsby) Hoskins, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Bethany Manor in Horseheads. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Bob and Betty Eiklor; nieces: Karen and Kathy Eiklor. This past February 28th, Ralph celebrated 62 wonderful years and life with his loving wife: Dorothy (Eiklor) Hoskins; he is also survived by his son and daughter-in-law: Richard and Linda Hoskins; daughter and son-in-law: Linda and Marty Vanderhoff all of Elmira, NY; beloved grandchildren: Kristin (Lee) Morris and their children: Evelyn, Isabella of Great Britain; Jennifer Huffner; Bryan (Amy) Vanderhoff and their children: Mason and Madelyn of Elmira; Eric Vanderhoff and his daughter: Kasey; niece: Jan (Chris) Cavallaro and their children: Robbie and Dominick. For over 60 years, Ralph owned and operated Elmira Auto Spring Works. He was a founding member of the West Elmira Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the F & A M Masonic Lodge # 95. He enjoyed working outside and tinkering with anything he could put his hands on. He loved to travel, mainly for the food! At his request there will be no prior calling hours. Graveside Services will be held privately and at the convenience of his family in the Woodlawn Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Cheryl Ann Elfond will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to the Chemung County SPCA and Humane Society 2435 Route # 352 Elmira, NY 14903 or to the West Elmira Volunteer Fire Department 1299 West Water Street Elmira, NY 14905. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira/Southport, NY.
