Was born in Elmira, NY, the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Campanelli) Altilio, passed away Saturday, July 31, 2010. On June 7, 1947 Pauline married Daniel J. Rossi. He preceded her in death November 19, 1996. Her brother, Joseph Altilio; brothers-in-law, Dominic and Leonard Rossi; sister-in-law, Antoinette "Nettie" Rossi Berg also predeceased her. She is survived by her loving children and their spouses, Daniel J. (Diane) Rossi of Horseheads, NY, Mary Frances (Joseph) O'Rourke of Horseheads, NY, David (Barbara) Rossi of Pittsburgh, PA; beloved grandchildren, Brett O'Rourke, Daniel Rossi III, Janelle O'Rourke, Ian Rossi, Emily Rossi, Paula Rossi, Jamie Rossi and Jack Rossi; adored great grandchildren, Dominic Muccigrosso and Brody O'Rourke; sisters, Angeline Pariso and the late John Pariso of Elmira, NY, Antoinette (John) Pirozzolo of Elmira, NY; brothers, Francis (Tammy) Altilio of Pine City, NY, Gerald A. (Janiene)Altilio of Horseheads, NY; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Altilio of Tennessee, Gaetana Doty of Elmira, NY; brother-in-law, George (Judy) Rossi of Horseheads, NY; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Pauline retired from Coca Cola in Horseheads, NY having worked for a number of years as a secretary/bookkeeper. She devoted her life to her children and family and enjoyed every moment spent with them. She had a strong passion and enjoyment for baking desserts and creating traditional Italian-American dishes. She was well known for her delicious cakes, cookies, breads and pasta dishes, particularly at family events and celebrations. Paulne lived a very active life. She was an avid reader and delighted in traveling to such places as Italy, New England, Florida, California, Hawaii and the National Parks. She also enjoyed watching the New York Yankees and playing bocce. During her early years she was an active bowler playing for numerous teams at the Rossi Bowling Alley. In recent years she participated in the Senior Olympics in Chemung County. She was an active member of the Italian- American Veterans Club, The Broad Street Senior Citizens Club, The Red Hat Society, and also volunteered her services at St. Joseph's Hospital in Elmira. She was a faithful communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Elmira. Pauline was an avid card player and member of several local card clubs, her favorite games being Canasta and Pinochle. Her family was most important to her. She loved and supported her grandchildren and was dedicated to their school functions and activities, especially football and cheerleading. She was always there for them no matter what. A Mass of Christian Burial and Interment in St. Peter and Paul's Cemetery will be announced at a later date and time.
