John S. Nickerson

John S. NickersonOf Elmira, NYWas born March 27, 1928 in Lackawanna, NY and passed away peacefully on Friday, December 19, 2014 at Elcor Health Services in Horseheads, NY at the age of 86. His mother, Helen M. Nickerson and grandparents, Ethelbert (Hanna) Nickerson. He is survived by his loving wife with whom he has spent 61 wonderful years of life and love with, Virginia (Breese) Nickerson; beloved daughters, Susan M. Nickerson, Diane E. (John) Russell and Sandra A. (Gordy) Manchester; adored grandchildren, Christopher E. and John P. Russell; Alyssa J. and Amber M. Manchester. John was a faithful communicant of St. Mary's Church. He was a Veteran of the US Navy proudly serving his country during the Korean Conflict on board ship in Morocco. John retired from New York Telephone Company after 32 years of dedicated service as a lineman. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Church 224 Franklin Street Elmira, NY on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at 10:00 AM. The Reverend John DeSocio will celebrate the Mass. Interment will take place privately at the convenience of his family in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to St. Mary's Church. Envelopes will be available at the church.
