Janet R. Mccormick Fitzwater (Farnham)

Janet (Farnham) McCormick Fitzwater, 85, formerly of Gillette and Elmira, passed away on November 15, 2023 at the Elderwood Nursing Facility at Waverly, NY.

Born on January 7, 1938, in Sayre, PA, she was the daughter of Charles Farnham and Edna (Stranger) Farnham-Hankinson., and step-father Percy Hankinson.  Janet was a graduate of Waverly High School.

She was married to Robert Fitzwater who passed away in April 2014.

Janet worked at the A & P Plant until they closed.

She was a member of the Methodist church and loved to sing the old hymns. Janet also enjoyed spending time with her family.

Janet is survived by her daughter Gonia (Bobby) McCormick, son Randy McCormick, sister Nancy (George) Ziegler, sister-in-law Betty Hankinson, grandchildren: Jess (Dorsey) Lawson,  Josh (Julia) McCormick, Jamie (Gary) Smithmen, great-grandchildren: Taylor (Colin) (McWhinnie), Nicole Lawson, Chloe, Tristin, and Nevaeh Smithmen, Kyle, Mollie, Dante and Sera McCormick, great great grandchildren: Izzy, Waylon, Jett McWhinnie, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and step-father, husband, twin boys Darryl and Merrill, brothers Charles Farnham and Joseph Hankinson.

Friends and family are invited to a public visitation on Wednesday November 22, 2023, from 10AM-12PM at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave, Elmira, NY, 14904, with a burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Elmira, NY.
