Harry A. Gilbert

GILBERT, Harry A. Age 61 Of Johnson City, NY formerly of Elmira, NY passed away unexpectedly Sunday July 20, 2008 at home. Harry was born February 2, 1947 the son of the late Peter and Rita (Mcklevis) Gilbert. He is survived by his wife, Doreen C. Gilbert, sons, James E. Gilbert and Andrew T. Gilbert, step-daughter, Angie (Nick) Finlayson, step-son, Jeremy J. WestGrandchildren, Amelia and Kathryn. Sisters, Ann (Jerry) Ingerick, Ellen Gilbert and Rita Gilbert, brothers, Peter Gilbert, and Walter (Suong) Gilbert. Also several nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, numerous friends and many CSEA friends.Harry was a retired Care Taker at the Chemung County Fair Grounds, and a former Vice President of Local #808 of Chemung County CSEA. He was an Election Monitor for many years in the Elmira area. Harry was an avid antique collector spending many weekends at auctions, home sales or flea markets. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting, fishing and skeet shooting.Family and Friends are invited to call at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira on Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with a Memorial Service there Thursday evening at 7:00 PM, Father Walter Wainwright will officiate. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family. Those wishing may make memorials to the Cerebral Palsy & Handicap Childrens Association of Chemung County, Inc., 1118 Charles Street, Elmira, NY 14904 in Harrys memory.
