BONYAK, EvaOf Pine Valley, NYFormerly of Elmira Heights, NY was born May 29, 1918 in Elmira Heights, NY the daughter of the late Paul and Helen (Kopko) Gobush, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at the age of 89. On May 29, 1935 Eva was united in Holy Matrimony with Frank Bonyak Sr. in Elmira Heights, NY. He preceded her in death after 52 wonderful years of life and love together in December 1987. Her brother, Michael Gobush and son, Frank Bonyak Jr. also predeceased her. She is survived by her sister, Mary Johnson of Elmira Heights, NY; daughters, Mary (John) Clemons of Montour Falls, NY; Marlene (William) Rush of Pine Valley, NY; grandchildren, Paul Anthony Bonyak, Cathy Griggs and Russell Prechtl; great granddaughter, Sarah Griggs; special niece, Helen Curtis; along with several others nieces and nephews. Eva was a devoted communicant of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church and belonged to the Sacred Heart Society at the church. She was also involved with the ladies at the church that made the Varenyky {Pyrohy}. She retired from Westinghouse, Inc. after 25 years of dedicated service in the Imaging Department, where she was instrumental in working on the first tube used by NASA in their Moon Missions. For their appreciation, Westinghouse gave Eva a replica of the tube used in those Lunar Missions. At her request all services will be held privately at the convenience of her family.
