Eleanor M. (Ripley) Young, formerly of Mt. View Drive, Pine City, slipped away quietly with her family at her bedside, early Good Friday morning, March 21, 2008.Born February 16, 1918, in Elmira, NY, she just celebrated a grand 90th birthday with 50 friends and relatives.Her kind, loving spirit touched every one she met. She was ever faithful to her Lord and her family and led us all through her fine example of Christian living. She was a life long member of the Elmira Wesleyan Church, active in teaching, missionary ladies work and she loved her church suppers as much as Dad hated them.She owned Eleanor Young Sewing Service for 20 years and many Elmira homes are graced with her beautiful custom made draperies, slipcovers, quilts and most recently handmade patch work pillows.Residents and friends who stopped by to visit would leave with a beautiful pillow.Her poems and limericks always brought a laugh and sometimes a tear or two.She is predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Elden Pud (2005).She was the daughter of the late Jay and Viva Ripley, and brothers, Alan, Carrol, Ronald and Thurman.She is survived by sons Blair (Chris) and Mark (Jane) of Millerton, PA, Larry (JoAnn) of Elmira, NY and daughter Marcia (Felix) Lukenbill of Corning, NY. Also, loving sister Sharon Oliver of Elmira, NY, 6 grandchildren, 9 step grandchildren,13 great grandchildren and 14 step great grandchildren.The famlys heartfelt thanks go to the staff of the Chemung County Nursing Facility, especially the 4th floor staff, for helping us escort her through these days with dignity.Contributions can be made to the CCNF Resident Fund, 103 Washington St., Elmira, NY 14901 or the Elmira Wesleyan Church, 1100 South Main St., Elmira, NY 14904.Family and friends are invited to call at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. on Monday March 24, 2008 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM with Funeral Service Tuesday at 10:00 AM atthe Elmira Wesleyan Church.Followed by graveside service in Woodlawn at 2:00.We miss her already, but are at peace knowing Mom and Dad are dancing together againno more discomfort, no more questions, just together forever with all of their heavenly family.
