Catherine (Kate) Smith of Pine City, NY; 48, passed away at home on April 12, 2013 after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. Kate was born April 27, 1964 in Elmira, NY to the late Roxanna and Raymond Ketter, Sr. She was predeceased by her son Ryan Smith and brother Joseph Ketter. Kate is survived by her husband of 29 years, Robert Smith. Children; Joshua Smith at home and Shawna Smith of Elmira, NY; Godparents; Frank and Sharon Dunkle of Pine City, NY, sister and brother-in-law, Mary (Tim) Jessup of Elmira, NY, aunt, Kathleen (Fibber) Peckham of Horseheads, NY, cousin, Mindy Hungerford also of Horseheads; father-in-law, Ernest Smith of Pine City, NY, sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Morris of Elmira, NY, Amy Sindone of Ithaca, NY, Karen Nero of Athens, PA, brother-in-law, Brian Smith of Pine City, NY. Nieces; Theresa Milkove of Manchester, CT, Jamie Ketter, Jessie Ketter; nephew, William Phillips of Elmira, NY, great nieces and nephews, Cammilynn McCarty, Jayden Mann, Ethan Milkove, Lucas Hoffmann, Ben Swartwood, Josef Nichols-Phillips, and best friend, Carol Johnson-White of Elmira, NY. Kate was employed as a manager of the Dollar Treein Elmira, NYand was the President of the Webb Mills Volunteer Fire Department’s ladies auxiliary. Kate enjoyed time with family and friends living her life to the fullest. Camping was one of her favorite pastimes, spending it with the people who meant the most to her. She was very proud of her children and she loved spending time with her puppy, Odie, and cat, Zahbo. A special thank you to the Falk Cancer Center and Care First for all their support. Family and friends are invited to share in a celebration of Kate’s life on Saturday, April 20th 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. with a remembrance services at 1:00 p.m. at the Webb Mills Fire Department, Pine City, NY.Memorial donations may be made in Kate’s name to the Falck Cancer Center, the Chemung County SPCA, the Webb Mills Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary or Care First. Envelopes will be available at the Fire Department. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc.
