Allan G. Unger

Allan G. Unger, age 87, of Big Flats, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 14, 2025 at Seneca View Nursing Facility in Montour Falls, NY. Allan was born November 15, 1937 in Scranton, Pennsylvania, son of the late Edward and Ruth (Walters) Unger. He served his country in the US Army. Later he graduated from Scranton University with a master’s degree in psychology. Allan retired from the State of New York where he worked with the DDSO. He was a lifelong advocate for the disabled. He was married to the late Cheryl (Moore) Unger. Allan was preceeded in death by his loving wife and two grandchildren Olivia and Alex Roblyer.

Allan was a member of the Bethany Christian Fellowship in Sayre, PA, and a member of the Devotion House in Big Flats, NY. Allan enjoyed playing guitar and singing worship music. He liked to play tennis in his younger days and always loved a good joke.
Surviving are his three daughters; Kristen (Dennis) Collins of Elmira, Allison (Andrew) Roblyer of Elmira, Janell Larson of Billings, MT: his grandchildren Stephen, Dan, Lindsay, Kate, Paige, Jude, Henry; great-grandchildren Emma, Ava, Lydia, Cheryl; nephew Bill Moore, and best friend Bruce Levey.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial service that will be held at 5:30 PM on Sunday, March 23, 2025 at the Journey Church, 116 Breesport Road, Horseheads, NY 14894. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Olthof Funeral Home, 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY.
