TOWNER, William R.Age 81 formerly of Elmira, NY most recently residing with son William in Carlisle, PA. William was the son of the late Samuel and Mildred White Towner. He was born in Elmira, NY, December 17th, 1920, the beloved husband of the late Dolores Towner. Surviving William is his son; William C. Towner (Linda Warner) of Carlisle, PA, grandchildren; Gary (Tina) Chrisler, Jeff (Billie Joe) Chrisler, Tonia (Jonathon) Lloyd, Christy Towner,9 great- grandchildren; sister; Marge (James) Caccia of Elmira; numerous nieces and nephews.Predeceased by his wife; Dolores Towner, daughter; Sharon Jean Towner and sister; Mildred ?Betty? Strong. Proud Army Veteran of World War II, Member of the Clarence Oliver Post #154 of the American Legion, Elmira Heights, NY, Communicate of St. Mary?s Church on the Southside. William was an avid bowler and a member of the Elmira Bowling Association for many years. He cherished the many friendships that he made bowling at Rossi Lanes.Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY, Thursday, February 7th, 2002 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Funeral services will be held there Friday, February 8th, 2002 at 10:00 AM with Father Joe Brodnick. Prayers of committal will be shared at the St. Peter and Paul?s Cemetery following the funeral services.
