DERR,Wesley R. Of Elmira, NY Died suddenly Tuesday April 24, 2001 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Wes was born on February 6, 1923 in Geneva, NY He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years: Julia S. Derr Children: Chuck and Laurie Derr of Elmira, NY Sally and Scott Miller of New Jersey Ann and Lonnie Finch of Elmira, NY James and Karen Derr of Bath NY Grandchildren: Whitney, Jason, Lindsay, Diana and Audrey Sister: Betty Sline Several Nieces and a nephew Wesley was awarded the Purple Heart as a Marine during WW II. He retired as Deputy Registrar for Chemung County Department of Vital Statistics. Wes was a very active member of North Presbyterian Church, serving as a Trustee,Deacon and on several committees. He also kept himself busy as an active member of the community, with organizations such as Meals On Wheels. And was an avid boater and fisherman. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Friday April 27, 2001 at 11:00 AM in North Presbyterian Church 954 Lake St. Elmira, NY. Those wishing may make memorials to the North Presbyterian Church Building Fund; Envelopes will be available at the Church. Arrangements are entrusted to Olthof Funeral Home, Inc.
