Age 81, of Elmira, NY, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, July 30, 2003.Tom was born August 15, 1921 in Elmira, the son of the late Theodore and Nellie (Brown) Jankowski.He was also preceded in death by his brothers, John and Frank; sister, Martha Frost; and granddaughter, Wendy Marie Jankowski.He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Violet Castle Jankowski; daughter, Cindy Stover of Columbus, OH; four sons, Ted (Fran) Jankowski of Erin, NY, Ken (Donna) Jankowski of Clearwater, FL, Charles (Mary) Jankowski of Louisville, KY, Jake Jankowski of Elmira, NY; brother, Joseph (Peggy) Jankowski of New Port Richey, FL; sisters, Mary Brown of Elmira, NY, Josephine Colburn of New Bern, NC; sister-in-law, Joyce Jankowski of Elmira, NY; several grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and special neighbors.Tom was a World War II veteran of the US Navy and a Pearl Harbor survivor.He served on the USS Case and was awarded 5 battle stars for the major engagements he participated in.After the war, he drove truck for Delmot Express and Boss Linco, then owned and operated Tom?s Antique Shop, and later ran a landscape maintenance business.He enjoyed playing golf, horseshoes, and pounce with his family, along with working at his river-front property.Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY on Friday, August 1, 2003 from 4 to 7 PM.Funeral services will be held there on Saturday, August 2 at 10:00 AM.Rev.
