WATKINS GLEN – Thomas G. Bush , 88, of Watkins Glen, passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2022. Born on January 6, 1934 in Elmira, NY, he was the son of the late John and Emma (Linsey) Bush. Thomas graduated in 1952 from Elmira Free Academy and was Honorably Discharged from the US Air Force in 1956.
For 26 years, he was a mechanic in the Elmira City School District bus garage. After his retirement in 1992, he drove for Albee Trucking.
Thomas’s favorite place was the family cottage on Seneca lake. He also enjoyed bowling, golfing, hunting and fishing. More than anything, he cherished the time he shared with his family and friends. He was also a member of the Elmira Elks and Montour Moose.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Helen (Mente) Bush, son, David Bush, daughter in law, Wendy (Wilson) Bush and fiancé Barbara Zahorian.
He is survived by his daughter, Susan M. Swan of Watkins Glen; his son, Brian D. Bush of Elmira; his grandchildren, Alicia Swan, Michael Bush, Elizabeth Bush, Katherine (Mark) Pflughoeft; his great grandchildren, Ember Pflughoeft, Kylie Swan, Annabelle Thompson; and his stepdaughter, Sarah Zahorian. He is also survived by his sisters Irene Connolly and Phyllis Snyder.
Friends may call from 4-7 pm on Sunday, July 24, 2022 at Olthof Funeral Home, 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. in Elmira. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 11 am on Monday, July 25, 2022 with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 563 Jerusalem Hill Road in Elmira.
