Susan Kay Allen, a life-long resident of Elmira, NY passed away surrounded by her loving family after a long battle with cancer. She was 68.
Susan was an amazing wife. The love she had for her husband was unconditional. Through thick and thin, she was always by his side. She was a wonderful mother and homemaker who not only took care of her own children, but also opened her arms to others’ children as well. She loved watching her children grow and loved every minute spent with her grandchildren. She especially loved to celebrate holidays and birthdays with all of her family. She was a one-of-a-kind caregiver her entire life, and was loved by so many in return! She will be deeply missed, and her memory and the memories she made will live on in everyone who knew her.
She was preceded in death by: her parents Gerald N. and Mildred (Towner) Strong; brother Gerald Strong, and his wife Sherill; brother Rick Strong, and his wife Bonnie; brother Jack Strong; and her sister Carol Martin.
Susan dedicated her life to her family and is survived by: her beloved husband Robert L. “Bob” Allen; her children – Julie Hobczuk and husband Ted, John E. Howells, Tanya Webster and husband Danny, William Allen, Robert Allen, Jason Howells and wife Jennifer, Mathew Howells and wife Melissa, Brandon Howells and wife Leah, Michael Howells, as well as Marissa Allen, a granddaughter they raised as their own; her other grandchildren – Nathan Hobczuk, Haley Hobczuk, Ian Howells, Owen Larow, Joshua Allen, Jessica Allen, Aiden Strope, Trevor Allen, Addalynn Allen, Katelyn Allen, Nicholas Allen, Avory Allen, Tyler Roszyk, Kylie Allen, Raven Roszyk, Kiersten Brill, Mariah Brill, Chelsey Brill, Shane Smith, David Howells, Matthias Carpenter, Caleb Howells, Lydia Howells, Aubrey Lewis, Jaxon Howells, Emma Howells, Liam Howells, and Kaiden and Kameron Howells and their mother Kristina Horton; her two great-grandchildren – Kai Hobczuk and Zendaya Allen; her brothers – Jim Strong, and Joseph Strong and wife Susan; her sister-in-law Penny Strong; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Sunday, April 14 from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM, and to her funeral service beginning at 2:00 PM, at Olthof Funeral Home, 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY 14904.
