Scott J. Morton, born in Dansville, NY and a resident of Elmira, NY passed away on November 22, 2024. He was 70 years old.
Scott, known to most as "Pa", was a graduate of South Side High School in Elmira. He went on to enlist in the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1972-1980 while stationed in both South Dakota and Thailand. After the service, he began his career as a corrections officer at the Elmira Correctional Facility. In his spare time he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He enjoyed spending his fall/winters at the hunting cabin and his summers at the lake. Those were his happy places. Above all his greatest joy was his children and grandchildren. He loved planning and preparing the family meals for the weekends at the lake and the vacation itineraries!
Scott was preceded in death by his parents - Dorothy and Claude Blim. He is survived by: his beloved wife of more than 51 years - Linda L. (Williams) Morton; his children - Christopher M. Morton, and Amanda L. (Morton) Greger and husband Stephen; his grandchildren - Isabella Morton, Madison Morton, Cody Ripley, Chase Ripley, and Owen Ripley; his siblings - Dan Morton, Sr. and wife Carol, Mary Lanza and husband Gary, Michelle Bennett, Laurie Sullivan, and Tammy Wheeler and husband Ken; his brother-in-law Richard Curkendall; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to Olthof Funeral Home, 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY 14904, for a visitation on Sunday, December 1, 2024 from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM. He will be laid to rest in a private family ceremony at a later date.
