Roxanne Corey

Roxanne Corey, a native and resident of Elmira, NY passed away on August 7, 2024. She was 61 years old and lost her battle with cancer.

Roxanne was a mother figure to many. She was always willing to offer advice or a helping hand when she could. She loved to socialize with friends, but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was an avid bowler right up until her illness no longer allowed her to. “Rox” loved to attend bingo every Sunday with her sister. When she became unable to work due to treatments, crocheting became a hobby. She made many blankets in her spare time. Roxanne was employed by Bethany Village for almost 25 years. During her time there she touched many lives. She was loved by all, including residents and staff.

She was preceded in death by: her parents Henry M. and Dorothy M. (Eddy) Decker; her beloved husband Richard D. Corey; her brother Harold Decker and his wife Kathleen (Watts) Decker; her parents-in-law Daniel T. and Marguerite (Scott) Corey; and her brother-in-law Jake Foster.

She is survived by: her daughter Ondrea Corey (Nick Nemier); her son Thomas Corey (SamanthaCorey); her grandchildren, who were her world – Hailey Corey and Logan Corey; her sisters – Rose Foster (Mike Rank), and Tracey Wheaton (Dan Wheaton); her brothers – Hank Decker (Ellen Decker), and Bud Decker (Bernie Decker); her sister-in-law Tammy Hawkins (Dave Hawkins); and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, August 15, 2024 from 1:00 PM until 3:30 PM, when her memorial service will begin, at Olthof Funeral Home, 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue in Elmira. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Woodlawn National Cemetery in a private family ceremony at a later date.

The family would like to thank all of the staff at the Corning Cancer Center for everything they have done. It was always a pleasure to walk through those doors to a positive environment. Thank you!
