Rodney Nathan Sheer

Sheer, Rodney Nathan ?Rod? Beloved Husband, Father, and Educator in Elmira, NY Passed away Friday, November 23, 2001 while vacationing in San Antonio, TX. He was born on July 14, 1946 to Nathan and D. Blair Sheer in Wellsboro, PA. Rodney graduated from Wellsboro High School where he was an accomplished Wrestler and long distance runner. He received his Bachelor?s degree from Mansfield State and his Master?s from Elmira College. He taught mathematics for 33 years for the Elmira City School District. Rod ran his own accounting and income tax preparation business. He also worked for Sharon Enterprises, Elmira Heights, NY. He is survived by his devoted wife, Eva, of 33 years, his two loving children; Quinton of Orlando, FL and Rebecca of San Antonio, TX; his cherished mother, D. Blair Sheer, sister Virginia Fresne both of New Braunfels, TX; sister Judy Watters of Spring Branch, TX; brother Emery Sheer of Miami, FL. He also leaves behind numerous other relatives and friends. Rodney will be remembered for his love of family, dedication to his hundreds of students, sharp wit and love of music and chocolate. A memorial service was held at the home of his sister, Virginia, in New Braunfels, TX on November 24TH .A memorial service on Tuesday, December 4, 2001 at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, will begin at 6 PM followed by a time of remembrance and visitation until 9 PM.
