Robert Frank Howland

Howland, Robert Frank Jr., age 74 of Elmira, NY went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ after a brief illness. Bob was born and raised in Elmira and was predeceased by his parents, Robert Frank and Margaret Anna (Gray) Howland. Bob is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Lou (Martin) Howland. Graduating from Southside High School in 1962, Bob enlisted in the United States Air Force, active duty 1962-1966, including temporary duty in Vietnam. Stationed at Loring AFB, ME, 42dFMS and assigned to SAC. Bob continued with the Air Force Reserves for 8 years, Dover AFB, DE, working as an airframe repair technician supervisor. Bob was selected as NCO of the Quarter Year of the 512th FMS and NCO of the Quarter Year of the 512 MAW. He retired from Sikorsky in 2012. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Olthof Funeral Home. At the convenience of the family, interment at the Woodlawn National Cemetery with Full Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Chemung County Humane Society and SPCA, 2435 Route 352, Elmira, NY 14903.
