Robert E. Cook

Robert E. Cook Age 82, formerly of Southport, NY, was born February 2, 1935 in Elmira, the son of the late Bert J. and Mildred (Goodyear) Cook. He passed away peacefully at Absolut Care of Endicott on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 after an extended illness. His sister-in-law, Carole Cook preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Edna (Smith) Cook; beloved children: sons, David Cook of Horseheads, NY; Robert E. (Karen) Cook of Lowell, MA; daughter, Valerie (Charles) Everett of Endicott, NY; along with 3 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Robert retired from the Elmira City School District as a custodian after 10 years of dedicated service. He was an honorary member of the Southport Volunteer Fire Department and very proud of that as well! Family and friends are invited to gather at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira/Southport, NY on Sunday, September 17, 2017 from 2:00 to 3:00 pm. A Memorial Service celebrating his life will follow the visitation at 3 pm. Reverend Mark Erway will officiate. The family will provide their own flowers. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to the Southport Volunteer Fire Department 1001 Carl Street Elmira, NY 14904.
