Robert N. Conklin

Robert N. Conklin, age 86, of Elmira Heights, passed away on July 12th, 2017 at home. Bob was devoted to his wife of 49 years, Joan Kimber Conklin. He was a father who set and lived a Christian example for his children and was always involved in his children’s lives: Robert (Kathy) Conklin, Ronald (Nancy) Conklin, Diane (Mark) Fife. Bob came from a large family with 8 siblings, he knew and nurtured the value of family time and opportunities for gathering together. He was a founding member of the Grace Church of the Nazarene in Horseheads, NY. Bob fulfilled many roles including serving as a board member, teacher, as well as a handyman. He assisted in building the church and accepted God’s appointment for him to serve as interim pastor. Bob thoroughly enjoyed golfing, hunting, and Men’s Club at Hardinge. He was predeceased by his wife Joan, parents Foster and Cordelia Conklin, brother and sister-in-law Ray and Betty Conklin, brother Carl Conklin, brothers-in-law Richard Millspaugh and Ken Hayes, Charles Hood, along with his grandchild Velora Pedrick. Bob is survived by his loving family: sisters, Helene Hayes, Lucille Millspaugh, Dorothy Hood, Karen Johnson (Roger), brothers Jerry (Judy) Conklin, Eugene (Shelba) Conklin, and sister-in-law Cartha Conklin. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren: Maria (Greg) Miller, Mike Conklin, Mandy Fife, Jonathan Fife, Levi Pedrick, Andrew Pedrick, along with 7 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A calling hour will be held on Sunday, July 16th, 2017 from 2 PM-3 PM at the Grace Church of the Nazarene, 431 Wygant Road, Horseheads, NY 14845 with a funeral service to follow at 3 PM with the Pastors Charles Hargenrader and Keith Fields officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Church of the Nazarene.
