Age 79 of Horseheads, NY passed away peacefully Friday, August 16, 2002 at home surrounded by his loving family who cared for him during his illness. He was born October 1, 1922 in Corning, NY, the son of the late Cecil and Ethel (Hendrix) Colegrove. Bob, as he was affectionately known, graduated from Northside High School in Corning, NY and Alfred University. He married Dorothea Jean Hall, July 1, 1950; they have celebrated 52 wonderful years of life and love together. His survivors include his loving wife, Dorothea Jean; daughter and son-in-law, Denise Jean and Dennis Wiehe of Horseheads, NY; grandson and wife, Christopher Lee and Jennifer Wiehe and great grandson, Andrew Lee of Wellsburg, NY; granddaughter, Kimberly Jean Wiehe of Horseheads, NY; niece and husband, Kathryn Jean and David de Calesta of Hammondsport, NY; grandnephew and wife, Daran and Pam de Calesta of Eugene, OR; grandniece and husband, Kerry and Dan Lee of Cincinnati, OH; cousin and wife, Robert W. and Alice Colegrove of Lawrenceville, PA; special friends, Dorothy Scheb, Betty and Raymond Conklin, Shirley and Bill Eckler, Denise Campbell of England, Bob and Hazel Gill, and Godchild, Karlye Gill Pillar and husband, Vel. Bob was a Veteran of the US Army Air Corps, serving his country from 1943-1945 as a Motorcycle MP in England. He retired from Westinghouse in Horseheads, NY with 30 years of faithful and dedicated service. Bob had many hobbies. They included being a former member of the Chemung County Motorcycle Club, Elmira Camera Club, Seneca Power Squadron, Photo Society of America, NRA, and Seneca Chiefs Motorcycle Club. His was a member of the American Legion Clarence Oliver Post # 154 Elmira Heights, NY, Veterans of Foreign War Post # 524 Corning, NY, and the Pine City Sportsman Club. Bob requested there be no prior calling hours. Family and friends are invited to attend Graveside Services on Tuesday; August 20, 2002 at 2:00 PM in Woodlawn National Cemetery, Elmira, NY. The Chemung County Veterans Honors Squad will accord Mr. Colegrove Full Military Honors. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Olthof Funeral Home Inc, 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, NY.
