Age 74, of Elmira, NY died Thursday, December 12, 2002 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Mr. Besanceney was born September 19, 1928 in Elmira, NY, the son of the late Ross and Violet (Summers) Besanceney. He is survived by his wife Jean Hartford; daughter, Marilou Besanceney of Webster, NY; son; Robert F. Besanceney, Jr. of Naples, FL; daughter, Jan Ziegler of Horseheads, NY; sister; Betty Mitchell of Port Orange, FL; niece, Jeanne (BJ) and Dan Holleran of Elmira, NY; nephew, Douglas Mitchell of Sarasota, FL; niece, Sharon and Bill Michaels of Winter Park, FL; niece, Roberta and David Knickerbocker of Port Orange, FL; several great nieces and nephews; great great nieces and nephews; and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. He was predeceased by his brother, Allen Besanceney, and sister, Joyce Weisenfluh. Robert served in the Army from 1946 to 1948 during World War II. He was an employee of Sears Roebuck for many years. Bob had been a member of AA since 1957. Those wishing may make memorial donations in Bob´s name to the Arctic League, Inc., 114 W. 2nd St., Elmira, NY 14901. Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, December 14, 2002 from 1 to 3 PM and 6 to 8 PM at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY. The funeral will be held there Saturday at 8:00 PM with Deacon Robert Stowell officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Woodlawn National Cemetery, Elmira.
