Richard C. Yorke

Richard C. Yorke, age 85 of Elmira, NY passed away peacefully at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center on Saturday, July 14, 2018. Richard was born in Elmira to the late Leonard C. Yorke and Dorothy L. Schoonover Tum. In addition to his parents Richard was also preceded in death by his brother, Donald L. Yorke. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Dolores Yorke; sons, Mark Yorke and Thomas (Linda) Yorke; three grandchildren, Brian (Jacqueline) Yorke, Kristina (Dan) Brunette and Jesse Yorke; one great-grandchild, Schyler Yorke; along with many nieces and nephews. Richard served as an Elmira Police Officer early in his career. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1950 to 1954. He retired from the U.S. Border Patrol and Immigration and Naturalization Services after 30 years of service. After his retirement he proudly served as a Lieutenant with the Southport Fire Department. He was also a member of the Elmira Masonic Lodge #95 for many years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Richard's honor to the Southport Fire Department, 1001 Carl Street, Elmira, NY 14904. Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at Olthof Funeral Home, 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY from 4 pm to 6 pm. A memorial service will be held privately at the Fitzsimmons Cemetery.Richard's family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center for all their love and care.
