Richard Harry "Dick" Schornstheimer

Richard Harry " Dick" Schornstheimer Elmira - Age 92, of Elmira, NY passed away January 3rd after a brief illness at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. He was born on November 19th, 1928, son of the late Harry William and Eva (Harvey) Schornstheimer. He was predeceased by his brother Robert Schornstheimer and Kenneth Peterson and first wife Charlotte Robison. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Margery (Mosch) Schornstheimer, daughter Diane Schornstheimer Ingham (Jeff Ingham) with sons Joshua and Michael, stepsons Joseph and Daniel, son Richard Jr. and Marilyn (Minch) Schornstheimer with son Zeke and sister-in-law Emma Mosch. He was a 1946 graduate of Elmira Free Academy and served in the Army of Occupation in Germany 1950-1952 where he met formerly unknown relatives. He was an employee of Moore Business Forms for 39 years and worked as a Purchasing Agent until the closing in September 1985. After retiring he also worked 3 years for the Association of Retired Citizens and the Census in 1990. He was an active member of North Presbyterian Church since 1953 and served on all boards during that time. He enjoyed volunteering at Arnot Ogden Medical Center for many years where he ran bus trips for the Auxiliary. He was a pianist and played at nursing homes for sing a longs and the Elmira Kiwanis Club for many years. He also delivered meals for Meals on Wheels, and ushered many years at the Clemens Center. The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
