Age 86 went home to be with his Lord, March 18, 2003. He was born January 2, 1917 in Elmira, NY the son of the late Frank B. and Adelaide (Brink) Record. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Marietta Van Dusen Record.He is also survived by his beloved daughters and sons-in-law, Judith A. and the late Duane ?Butch? Stiles of Pine City, NY; Jill R. and Brian C. Flynn of Hammondsport, NY; Joylinn R. and Thomas J. Show of Farmington Hills, MI; granddaughters, Holly (James C.) Henderson, Alice M. (Wayne) Rickman; grandson, Thomas (Kara) Stiles; great grandchildren, Tyler J. Henderson, Eric N. Rickman and Heather J. Rickman; sisters and brothers-in-law, Polly and the late Harold Taylor of Atlanta, GA; Theresa and Arthur Niver of Elmira, NY; Betty Jane and the late Edward Stayments of Elmira, NY; Sarah and Leonard Fiorito also of Elmira, NY; Nancy and Charles Bryan of Poquoson, VA; along with several nieces and nephews. In 1982, Richard retired from Sperry Univac with 40 years of dedicated service. He was a lifetime member of the Mark Twain Golf Club; and also on the Board of Directors; a member of the Mark Twain Health Club; a lifetime member of the BPOE Elks Lodge # 62 and Fraternal Order of Eagles Club. He was also a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church, a Deacon and on the Finance Committee at the church as well. Richard was involved with Junior Achievement and was an avid golfer, sports fan, and enjoyed reading. In his earlier years, he ran for the Elmira City Council and for the Supervisor?s position. He will be dearly missed, especially by his friends and family. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Family and friends are invited to call at the First Baptist Church, 121 West Church Street, Elmira, NY 14901 on Saturday, March 22, 2003, from 10 to 11 AM. Funeral Services will be held there at the conclusion of calling hours. (11:00 AM) The Reverend Dennis Christiansen will officiate. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will provide their own flowers. Memorial Donations may be directed to the First Baptist Church Memorial Fund or the Glenn H. Curtiss Museum, 8419 Route 54, Hammondsport, NY 14840. Envelopes will be provided at the Church. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation for the loving care given to their father by the entire staff at St. Joseph?s Hospital 5th Floor Skilled Nursing Unit.
