Richard H. â??Dick? Davis

March 29, 1937 — October 4, 2002

Age 65 of Elmira, NY passed away Friday, October 4, 2002 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Dick is survived by his loving wife of 37 years Marietta Caparulo Davis of Elmira; beloved daughter, Melissa Davis of Elmira; cousins, Joan Hatch of Chittenango, NY; and Jack (Sandy) Lacey of Lake Havasu, AZ; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Francis (Joan) Caparulo of Elmira. Dick was a family man who absolutely loved the comfort of his own space. Whether it was relaxing at the lake cottage on Seneca Lake that he built himself or the family farm that always needed mowing, Dick was at home. He was also seen on occasion cruising the highways in his blaze yellow Corvette on his way to his dialysis appointment. Being a devoted husband and loving father was what Dick loved. He always made sure things were taken care of for his family, even when his arthritis was more pain than he could manage, Dick had a handle on it. He could take care of anything people asked of him. Many do not know this about Dick, but he was the world?s best babysitter. He shared his father-in-law?s love of trains and the railroad, and had a great passion for model railroading. Dick worked for and retired from Hardinge Brothers Inc. and was a communicant of St. Mary?s Church. He loved working with wood and building things. Dick found his peace at Seneca Lake enjoying his friends and his boat. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY, on Monday, October 7, 2002 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Prayer services will be held there Tuesday, October 8th, at 9:15AM, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Mary?s Church (Southside), Elmira, NY 14904.
