Raymond “Ray” Earl Wood, Sr., 77, of Gillett, Pennsylvania, passed on to glory surrounded by his family on Saturday, October 20, 2018.Born on March 30, 1941 to the late Jesse and Pauline Wood in Geneva, New York, and made his home with his family in Gillett.Ray was a lifelong hunter and had a love for the outdoors and took much joy in restoring his tractors to pristine condition.A kind and compassionate soul, Ray regularly made time to share small talk with others and always willing to help when needed. Ray was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be missed by all. Ray is survived by his loving wife Beatrice of 58 years; daughter, Raylene (Ray) Berry of Troy; son, Raymond Wood, Jr. of Pine City, New York; son, Paul Wood of Gillett; daughter, Jane (Robert) White of Lawrenceville; son, Kevin (Devonn) Wood of Beavercreek, Ohio; 12 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. The family will receive visitors on Thursday, October 25, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. at Olthof Funeral Home, 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira. Pastor Sheldon Robyler will officiate. Burial will follow in Watson Cemetery, Roseville, Pennsylvania.
