Obituary follows: Straight, Ray C.age 80 of Elmira, NY, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2002 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. He was born June 23, 1921 in Elmira, the son of the late Charles R. and Sue (McWhorter) Straight. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Gertrude T. Straight; beloved sons, Michael, Tom (Marcy) and Gerry Straight all of Elmira, NY; grandchildren, Meredith Smith and Emma Lynn Straight; sister, Florenceva (Harry) Wilkins of Palmyra, NY; brothers, Charles (Lillian) Straight and Ralph (Margaret) Straight of Elmira, NY; along with several nieces and nephews. Ray was a Veteran of the United States Navy during WW II serving with the 6th Fleet on the Destroyer USS Sigourney. He was a former member of the BPOE Elks Club Elmira, NY.Ray was a salesman with Rose Kimble & Baxter for many years and also for I. D. Booth, Inc. and LeValley McCloud and Ray will be missed dearly but will always be remembered for being very outgoing, his love for people, and his great sense of humor. He enjoyed life to the fullest,an ice-cold beer, and especially the time spent with his family and close friends. Family and close friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service honoring and celebrating Ray?s life at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY on Tuesday, May 28, 2002 at 11:00 AM. The Reverend William Vallet will officiate. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family.
