ELMIRA - Randy James Olthof, age 70, born October 21, 1950 in Elmira, NY to the late Duane E. and Carol P. (Kelly) Olthof, passed away peacefully with his family at his side at Arnot Ogden Medical Center on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 after a brief battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Baker Olthof; his daughters, Emily (Darrell) Johns, Katrina (Anthony) Olthof-Montanarella; his grandkids, Genevieve “Eve” Montanarella, Violet Johns, Murphy Johns, Cecilia “Lily” Montanarella; his brother, Alan (Betsy) Olthof; his nephews and nieces, Timothy (Monica), Kristin Olthof, Justin, James, Jeffery, Ryan, Beth Clark; his cousins, Linda, Rob (Keitha), Heather (Mark Aumick), Lucianne, Seneca Olthof, Jill (David) Benjamin, Larry, Gary, Gayle Kelly, Lynda Limoncelli; his neighbors; and his close friends in the Chemung County offices. Randy was a beloved husband, brother, father, uncle, grandfather and “Grandpa Dog”. He started his career in Elmira as an intern in the county offices. He then spent some time in Washington DC and Virginia before he returned to become the Commissioner of the Planning Department in Chemung County where he worked until he retired in 2017. He had a great appreciation for nature’s beauty. He was an avid gardener and animal lover. Those who knew Randy have been touched by the beauty in his riverscapes and photos from around town.
