Philip Richard Wayne Wood

ELMIRA – Philip Richard Wayne Wood, 52, of Elmira, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 8, 2021.Born in Elmira, NY on July 28, 1969, he was the son of the late Donald Clarence and Dolores I. (Thomas) Wood.He attended Southside High School in Elmira and was a dedicated employee at Trayer Products, Inc. for more than 22 years. Philip enjoyed playing poker and board games with his family.He would often go on long walks in the woods with his dogs.He was truly a one-of-a-kind guy who told horrible jokes and always made you laugh.Philip was a generous man that would always put others before himself.He did not like to see children go without, especially around the holidays.More than anything, he cherished the time that he shared with his family, especially his grandson, Jake. He is survived by the love of his life, Katherine Talada of Troy, PA; his siblings, Melissa Wood (Bill Gaughan) of Elmira, Heather Wood of Elmira, Karen Wood (Albert Griswold) of Elmira, Carina (Ronald) Ball of Horseheads, Ryan (Kevin Argus) St. Louis of Buffalo; his nieces and nephews; Cody (Kelsey) Wood of Elmira,Nathan Wood of Elmira, Patrick Daugherty, Jr. of Elmira, Chad Mills of Elmira, Kayla Wood of Elmira, Josh Ball of Elmira, Matt Ball of Elmira, Alyssa Ball of Elmira, Lee Griswold of Elmira; his Grandson; Jake Thomas; his step children, Shannon Merril of Lockwood, NY, Kyle Donovan (Lauren) of NJ and Julia Mulcahy of Monroeton, PA. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 pm on Sunday, December 19, 2021 at the Italian American Veterans Club, 1070 Magee Street in Elmira.
