Winner, Paul Wilson, Age 87, of Elmira passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2001 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility.Paul is survived by: daughters; Jo Ann VanHoesen and Karen (Donald) Maus both of Elmira, grandchildren; Stephen and Paula Ramsay of Austin, TX, Peter and Sarah Fagan of Utica, NY, Rachel Maus of Elmira, three great-grandchildren and cousin; William Stroup. Paul is predeceased by his loving wife of 62years B. Mae Winner October 15th, 2001. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II, a member of the American Legion Post #154, Elmira Heights, and a Life Member of Disabled American Veterans SS Jack Swan Chapter 13 of Elmira.He was also an original member of Sampson Navy Veterans Association.Mr. Winner was retired from the Arnot-Ogdon Medical Center as manager of Data Processing and Credit.Prior to that he was Elmira City Chamberlain and Senior Examiner in charge of the Elmira office of the New York Department of Taxation and Finance.He was a life member of the Masons and Past High Priest of Royal Arch Masons.He was on the Executive Committee of the Medical Accounts Management Association of Syracuse.Mr. Winner was a Deacon of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and presided and preached in Southern Tier Churches during Pastors vacations and pulpit vacancies.After retirement he served as a volunteer for the hospital and the Chamber of Commerce.He was an active member of SCORE (Service Corp. of Retired Executives) and a member of the AARP Over the Counter Players.He was a member of the Elmira Kiwanis Club where he received the Distinguished Kiwanian Award and was named Kiwanian of the Year.Friends may make donations to the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, the Elmira Kiwanis Club Foundation, or to a charity of your choice.The Rev. Joseph Cotner will be officiating assisted by Thomas Weideman.Family and friends may call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY 14904, on Saturday, December 15, 2001, from 11 am to 1 pm. Funeral services will follow at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 314 W. Church St. Elmira, NY, at 2 pm.Interment will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery at the convenience of the family.Anyone wishing, may light a ?Candle of Remembrance? at www.olthof.com.
