Paul E. Dunkle, Sr.Age 58 of Christian Hollow Road Pine City, NY passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2002 at St. Joseph?s Hospital Elmira, NY. He was born October 10, 1944 in Elmira, the son of the late Henry and Anna (Zahorian) Dunkle Sr. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Maxine (Heath) Dunkle; beloved children, Denise and James J. Gaughan of Beaver Dams, NY; Toni Stugart of Elmira, NY; Paul E. and Ana Lucia Torres Dunkle of Pelham, NY; Lisa Dunkle Mayes of Elmira, NY; close friend of the family, Christine Stadelmaier of Elmira, NY; grandchildren, Misty Gaughan, Sara Gaughan, Shawn Stugart, Rebecca Stugart; brothers, Frank (Sharon) Dunkle of Pine City, NY; Richard (Phen Phen) Dunkle of Kelso, WA; sisters, Lena (Ed) Pautz of Elmira, NY; Leonora Race of Rochester, NY; sister-in-laws, Nancy Dunkle of Las Vegas, NV; Betty Dunkle of Virginia Beach, VA; along with several nieces and nephews. His brothers, Michael Dunkle and Henry Dunkle Jr, predeceased him. Paul was a Veteran of the US Navy and proudly served his country.He was a member of the American Legion Clarence Oliver Post # 154 Elmira Heights, NY. Paul retired from the Elmira City School District after 20 years of dedicated service as head custodian for Southside High School. Above all else, he absolutely loved playing euchre and bingo. He was an avid NASCAR fan and was a faithful fan of the late Dale Earnhardt. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY on Tuesday, October 29, 2002 from 4 to 7 PM. Funeral Services will be held there on Wednesday at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn National Cemetery where the Chemung County Veterans Honor Squad will accord Paul full Military Honors.
