Paul W. Balmer

Paul W. Balmer, Sr., 79 of Pine City, NY passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2018 surrounded by his loving family at home. Paul was predeceased by his parents, Clare Sr. and Lucille Balmer; brothers, Clare Jr., and Wallace ‘Pete’ Balmer; sisters,Beverly Noble Gordon, Lois Barbieri and June Strong. Paul is survived by his wife, classmate sweetheart, of 61 years, Elaine Balmer; children, Paul Jr. (Mary) Balmer, Glenda (Michael) Tillinghast and Eugene (Lisa) Balmer; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Paul owned and operated his business, Paul Balmer Auto Sales for 60 years where he bought, sold and restored cars. He built and restored many cars but his favorite was a red 1940 Ford coupe for which he won many awards. Paul was a racing enthusiast who was very passionate about racing and supporting his family in racing. Paul was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be missed. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2018 from 4 PM to 7 PM with a funeral service to follow at 7 PM at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Special thanks to Crystal Deats, Stephanie with Guthrie Home Care and CareFirst staff for their wonderful care for Paul. The family would also like to thank Paul’s granddaughters, Jessica, Julie and Jenna for all their loving care at home.
