Elmira, NY – Pamela J. VanHouten, 61, passed away in her home peacefully on April 6, 2023. She was
born March 23 rd, 1962 at Corning Hospital, the daughter of the late Rodney W. Travis Sr. and Jean A.
Travis (Russell)
Pam graduated from Southside High School, class of 1980. Following graduation, she worked
hard at Pudgies North Main, raising her three children with former spouse James VanHouten. She loved
her job and made many friends who became like her family. Pam became disabled in 2000 and began
fighting a battle with Multiple Sclerosis. She was able to stay in her home and enjoyed her daily shows
(especially Price is Right), spending time with her daughter and granddaughters, and ordering out
whenever she possible could. A few weeks out of the summer, you could find her at Keuka lake with her
aunt and uncle enjoying the water and boat. Pam had a will to live and always smiled and enjoyed life,
no matter what obstacles stood in the way.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her grandparents Gardner (Alta) Russell and
Phebie “Bobby” (Miles) McDonnell, Uncle Eugene Travis, Uncle Richard Krebs all of Corning, NY, nephew
Dustin L. Foster of Elmira, NY, and best friend Holly Strohl of Wellsburg, NY.
Pam is survived by her children Renee’ (Joe) Humphries, Michael J. Travis, and Brent (Carol)
Travis all of Elmira, NY. Her siblings Rodney W. Travis (Carol) of Elmira, NY, and Nancy (Brian) Farren of
Port Charlotte, FL. Her grandchildren Kierstyn, Khloe, Braden, Tiffanie, Zachary, Brandon, Anthony,
Christopher, and Meaghan all of Elmira, NY. Aunts Lena (Richard) Krebs of Corning, NY, Frederica (Stan
Dobromil) Smith of Belize, and Madlyn (Eugene) Travis of Corning, NY. Sister-in-laws Vicki (Jim)
VanHouten, Sherrie (Walt) VanHouten, and Michelle Cartwright of Elmira, NY. Several nieces, nephews,
and close friends.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, 1050 Penna. Ave., Elmira, NY on Friday, April 14, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with funeral and committal services there at 7:00 PM.
Interment will be in Nichols Cemetery, Nichols, NY at the convenience of the family.
