Mortimer, Omer Charles Sr. Hardinge Inc. Retiree}Age 69 of Walnut Street Elmira, NY. Passed away Friday, June 08, 2001 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 3, 1932 in Elmira, the son of the late Omer Dennis and Marian (Woodhouse) Mortimer. Omer was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 48 years, Betty (Edwards) Mortimer in 1998 and beloved son, Omer C. (Chip) Mortimer Jr. in 1981. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-laws, Gary and Mary Mortimer of Watkins Glen, NY; Bill and Mary Mortimer of Horseheads, NY; Lary (of Elmira) and Anita Mortimer (of North Carolina);daughter and son-in-law; Mary and Dan Cranmer of Morris Run, PA; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Paul Freeman of Elmira Heights, NY; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harry and Norma Edwards of Elmira, NY; along with 16 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Mr. Mortimer retired from Hardinge Brothers after several years of faithful service as a machinist. He was a Veteran of the US Navy, serving his country from 1951-1955. Omer loved his grandchildren dearly, enjoyed walking everywhere and was an avid fisherman. Family and friends are invited to attend Graveside Services in the Woodlawn National Cemetery 1825 Davis Street Elmira, NY on Monday, June 11, 2001 at 3:00 PM. The Reverend Howard Hunt will officiate. Full Military Honors will be accorded Mr. Mortimer by the Chemung County Veterans Honor Squad.
