Age 85 of Hendy Creek Road Pine City, NY passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2002 at the VA Medical Center in Bath, NY. He was born September 3, 1917 in Morley, MO the son of the late Earl and Josephine Carpenter. His first wife, Lorena Carpenter, preceded Norman in death. He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara; daughters and sons-in-law, June and Robert Swithers of Pine City, NY; Teresa and Donald Post of Elmira, NY; step-daughters, Karen R. Carpenter of Deposit, NY; Victoria (Timothy) Niles also of Deposit, NY; Kimm (Kenneth) Sheehan of Elmira, NY; step-sons, Kenneth (Rhonda) Carpenter of Gainesville, FL; Erick (Kathy) Hall of Wildwood, FL; along with 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Norman was a member of the Southside Baptist Church and a Veteran of the US Army and served his country during WW II. He was a life-member of the following: V.F.W. Post # 901 Elmira where he also was past Commander, American Legion Harry B. Bentley Post # 443 Elmira, NY; Golden Glow Volunteer Fire Department. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY on Wednesday, October 23, 2002 from 6 to 8 PM. Funeral Services will be held there at the conclusion of calling hours. (8 PM) The Reverend Jack Myers will officiate. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers Memorial Donations may be directed to the Golden Glow Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box # 3045, Elmira, NY 14905. A ?
