Nancy A. Stanton

Nancy A. Stanton, 85, of Elmira, passed away on November 10, 2023 at the Taylor Nursing Facility in Bath, NY.

She was born on May 26, 1938, in Elmira, NY, she was the daughter of Harry and Margaret (White) Westlake. She was a graduate of Elmira Free Academy, class of 1956.

On March 2, 1957 at St. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church, she married the love of her life, James Stanton, who survives. They were together for 66 wonderful years.

Nancy's biggest joy was devoted to her children. She loved going to her children's sporting events and baking. She loved getting her family together for special dinners especially on Sundays and Holidays.

She was a member of St. Peter and Paul and St. Mary's Catholic Church. Nancy also volunteered at Arnot Hospital.

Nancy is survived by husband, James A. Stanton of Elmira; children, Michael (Judy) Stanton, Rita (Rick) Piendel, Daniel Stanton, and Robert Stanton, grandchildren Stacey (Butch) Rhoads, Richard Piendel Jr., Brian, Owen, Kristen, and Rebecca Stanton; great grandchildren Jaxon, Kenzie, and Addison, sister Mary (Scott) Rhodes, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, children Julie,  Joann, and James, sister Madelyn Stevens, and brothers Robert and Walter Westlake.

At the families request, there will be no public visitation. Entombment will take place at the convenience of the family at St. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
