Nancy Kreisler Evans, age 81 of Elmira, NY passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at the Robert Packer Hospital surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by her parents, Steven and Helen Kreisler; brothers, Bill and Donald Kreisler; and nephew, Wayne. Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Charles “Dick” Evans; children, James D. (Tracey) Evans and David K. (Stacey) Evans; grandchildren, Cameron, Jake, Madison and Zachary; great-granddaughter, Piper; sisters-in-law, Doris and Marian Kreisler; niece, Karen Brouhard; nephews, Bob and Larry Kreisler and several others as well as, many great nieces and nephews. Nancy spent a lot of her free time giving back to the community. She volunteered at the Corning Museum of Glass, AARP, Elmira Food Bank and as an election inspector during many elections. Both she and Dick were named NYS Volunteers of the Year after volunteering over 20 thousand hours. She was an avid snow man collector and modeled for CJ Banks clothing store at the Arnot Mall. She was the primary organizer of their Elmira Free Academy Class of 1955 every 5 year reunions. She enjoyed baking, embroidery, sewing and spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren, when they came to visit. Nancy was a generous, soft spoken and kind hearted lady. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who will be missed by all. In lieu of flowers, donations in Nancy’s name may be made to your local food bank. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, December 15th, 2018 at the Westside United Methodist Church, Foster Avenue, Elmira, NY 14901 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm with a funeral service to follow at 4:00 pm. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Woodlawn Cemetery.
