Michael Joseph Pronti

Michael Joseph Pronti Of Horseheads, NY, born May 26 of 1924, succumbed to cancer on August 12, 2017 at the Corning Center for Rehabilitation.Born in Elmira, NY to the late Giuseppe Gaspero Pronti of Sgurgola, Frosinone, Lazio, Italy and Anna (Rotondi) Pronti of Campobasso, Molise, Italy, he lived most of his life in the Horseheads area. Michael was a lifelong entrepreneur whose various undertakings included a gas station, a soda company, and one of his first business undertakings included selling newspapers at the age of 7 during the Great Depression.Most recently, he spent most of the last approximately 65 years as a home improvement salesperson and contractor in the region. Michael fathered 14 children.He is predeceased by his first wife, Jeanne; his elder sisters, Jean, Mary, and Angeline; his eldest child, Michael Thomas, and his tenth child, Mark.He is survived by a sister, Yolonda; wife, Mary; and his remaining children: Jeanne, Anne, Joseph, James, Sandra, Robert, Edward, Janice, Steven, Paul, John, Brett; and nieces, nephews, and grandchildren too numerous to name. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira/Southport, NY on Friday, August 18, 2017 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.
