Meyrewin L. Shaw

Shaw, Meyrewin L. Age 87 of Dry Run Road Pine City, NY. Passed away Monday, July 16, 2001 peacefully at the home of his daughter surrounded by his family. He was born May 10, 1914 in Roulette, PA the son of the late Leslie and Edna Shaw. Meyrewin was married to his beloved Florilla J. Shaw who preceded him in death on November 24, 1986. He was also predeceased by his sister, Althea LaBauve; brother, Elton Shaw; grandson, Patrick David Gleason. His survivors include: daughters, Jeanie Gleason of Pine City, NY; Debbie Compton of Elmira, NY; son, Elton Shaw also of Elmira, NY; grandchildren, Harold Gleason, Duane Compton, Matt Gleason, Niclole Shaw, Heather Whitecotton, Jenne Shaw and Scott Whitecotton; great granddaughter, Jessica Bashore; dear friends Ed Cratsley, Cathy Hendricks and Julie Allen along with several nieces and nephews. Mr. Shaw retired from the Elmira City School District after several faithful years of service in the maintenance department. He was a proud member of the Pine City Volunteer Fire Department. Meyrewin was and avid sportsman enjoying fishing and hunting. He was a friend to many, loved by everyone and will be missed dearly by all. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY on Thursday, July 19, 2001 from 1 to 2 PM. Funeral and Committal Services will be held there at the conclusion of the visitation (2:00 PM). Interment will take place in Forest Lawn Memorial Park at the convenience of the family.
