Merub Louise Files

March 23, 1934 — January 12, 2003

Age 68, passed into the arms of her Lord to meet her parents, the late James M. and Rachel B. Card Darrow, on Sunday, January 12, 2003 at the Arnot Odgen Medical Center, Elmira, NY. Merub is survived by her daughter, Edith (Richard) Narosky of Elmira Heights; niece, Rachel (Scott) DeHaas of Pine City; great-niece, Emma Hassen; grandchildren, Richard (Angela) Narosky, Craig (Amy) Narosky, Brian (Kristie Cowl) Narosky, Matt Narosky; great-grandchildren, Trinity and Calob Narosky; sister, Marlene Whitson of Ashland, NY; brother, Robert Darrow of Bentley Creek, PA; and several nieces and nephews. Merub was predeceased by her brother, Richard York; and sisters, Emma Darrow and Judy Wetzel. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, NY on Wednesday, January 15, 2003 from 1 to 4 PM. Funeral and committal services will follow immediately after the calling hours at 4 PM, with Rev. Donald Rockwell officiating. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Horseheads, NY at the convenience of the family. Merub was retired from Thatcher Glass and the Grand Union and was an active volunteer in the community; volunteering for the Church of Christ in Horseheads, the Zim Center, the American Red Cross, and the American Cancer Society. Merub loved spending time with her family and grandchildren, was a huge Elvis fan, liked spending time on her computer, and going to Gettysburg, PA. Those wishing may make memorial donations to the American Cancer Society, 1316 College Ave., Elmira, NY 14901 in Merub?s name.
