Mary Francis Denton

Mary Francis Cox Denton, age 80 of Elmira, NY was born July 28, 1938 in Dandridge, TN.She was the daughter of Lenial Cox and Inis (Haynes) Cox.She passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2018 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center.She was predeceased by her loving and devoted husband of 54 years, Harold Denton.She was also predeceased by her brother, Lenial Cox. Mary is survived by her sister,Trudie (Bob) DeSanto, Fountain Hills, AZ;sister, Judy (Jarrett) Lawson, Russellville, TN; brother-in-law, Leonard (Vicki) Knickerbocker, Nelson, PA; sister-in-law, Victoria (Joel) Cumberledge, Knoxville, PA; along with several nieces and nephews. Mary and Harold were devoted to their family and friends, always there for them whenever possible, even if it meant driving many miles to support them.Mary was an Army veteran. She also worked for many years for Sears at the Arnot Mall, Big Flats.She was an active member of the following groups:Rebekah Lodge, Red Hats, and Eastern Star.Mary was a member of the Riverside United Methodist Church in Elmira, NY.She also enjoyed the Elmira Pioneers, and seldom missed a game prior to her passing.Friends are invited to gather at the Olthof Funeral Home, 1050 Pennsylvania Ave, Elmira, NY on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at 12 pm. A Memorial Service celebrating Mary's life will take place at 2 pm, following visitation.Interment will be held at the Woodlawn National Cemetery on Monday, September 17, 2018 at 2 pm, where she will be laid to rest with her beloved husband, Harold, following military honors.
