Longwell, M. Glover "Bud" Hardinge Inc. retiree Age 80 of Johnson Street Elmira, NY, passed away Sunday, October 28, 2001 peacefully at the Chemung County Nursing Facility after an extended illness. He was born July 26, 1921 in Bath, NY the son of the late Lewis W. and Edna (Glover) Longwell. "Bud" as affectionately known by everyone, married Rosemary Patterson April 12, 1947 in Elmira, NY at St. Patrick?s Church. His brother, James Nelson Longwell, preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Rosemary; beloved daughter and son-in-law, Julianne M. and Thomas Combs of Elmira, NY; grandson, Jeffrey Combs and wife Dana of Mt. Olive, NC; granddaughter, SSgt Colleen Kettler and fiancée Todd Penrod of Scott AFB Belleville, IL; great grandchildren, David Combs, Chelsea Combs, Jessica McClain and Makayla Kettler; brothers-in-law, Walter Patterson of Elmira, NY; William Patterson of Collinsville, IL; Harry Kahler of Horseheads, NY; along with several nieces and nephews. "Bud" was a communicant of St. Patrick?s Church and was a Veteran of US Army serving his country during WW II. Photography was what he enjoyed the most. He became so involved with photography that he opened his own business, M.G.L. Pictures. He was the main photographer for Hardinge Inc., Notre Dame sports, family photos, anniversaries and especially weddings. "Bud" was a toolmaker for Hardinge Inc. and retired in 1983 after 43 years of faithful and dedicated service. He was a member of the Camera Club and the Hardinge Men?s Club. In his earlier years, "Bud" was and avid bowler and loved golfing. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY on Thursday, November 1, 2001 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 2, in St. Patrick?s 604 Park Place Elmira at 11:00 AM. The Reverend Walter Wainwright celebrant, con-celebrant michael Trainor O. P. Interment will follow in St. Peter and Paul?s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers Memorial Donations may be directed to the American Cancer Society 627 W. Church Street Elmira, NY or to the American Brain Tumor Association 2720 River Road, Suite 146 Des Plaines, IL 60018 A "Candle of Memory" may be lit in "Bud?s" name at www.olthof.com.
