Marion G. (Tommy) Thomas, age 90 years young, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 24, 2017, surrounded by his loving family at home in Elmira, NY. He graduated from Elmira Free Academy; joined the Marine Corps and served his country while stationed in China. Tommy retired as a dedicated firefighter for the City of Elmira after many years of loyal service.He was known for his strong faith; great sense of humor; and unending love for his family and friends. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, camping and fishing. He was predeceased by his wife, the love of his life of 50 years, Charlotte (Devon) Thomas, and his sister, Betty Moore. He is survived by his children:Lt. Col. (Ret.) Steven (Marilyn) Thomas of Key West, FL.; Joy (Jack) Brewer of Millerton, PA; Lori (Doug) Wilcox of Elmira, NY; Scott (Cheri) Thomas of Rochester, NY; and honorary son, William (Sheila) Whitmore; Grandchildren:Michael Thomas; Heather (Joe) Walters; Brendan (Leslie) Brewer; Jordan (Lyndsay) Wilcox; Sarah Thomas (Fiancé-Wes Aiken); Rachel (Steve) Pellegrino; and Great-grandchildren:Jacob and Hayden Thomas; and Alden, Nolan and Evelyn Brewer. A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 1, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at the Pennsylvania Avenue United Methodist Church (PAUMC) in Pine City, NY. A celebration of life will be held privately at the Woodlawn Cemetery at the convenience of family.
