Marilyn Louise Wood
July 28, 1930 – August 25, 2023

Marilyn Louise Wood, Age 93, of Big Flats, NY, passed away on Friday,
August 25, 2023, with her family by her side. She was predeceased by
her husband of 67 years, Allan L. Wood; Her parents: Delmar and Agnes
Jones; Granddaughter: Melissa Beth Wilson; and her sister: Lorraine
Kelly.

Marilyn is survived by her children: Michael (Cathy) Wood, Peter
(Lorna) Wood, Nancy (Ed) Piccirillo, Mary Wilson, Stephen (Rose)
Wood, and Susan (John) Dunlap; Grandchildren: Zack Wood, Abby
Wood, Carly (Matt) McGrain, Kerrie Piccirillo, Jamie Piccirillo, Jenny
Lewis, Kyle (Kathy) Wood, Carrie Skufca, Ben (Jessica) Wood, Kristen
(Eric) Evans, Amy (John) Enright, Katy (Craig Dick) Dunlap, Michael
(Lauren) Dunlap; 17 Great-grandchildren, and many nieces and
nephews whom she dearly loved.

Marilyn graduated from Southside High School. She was a homemaker
who loved raising her six children and was a childcare giver to others.
Marilyn’s husband Allan passed away on April 22, 2020 during COVID.
His family was unable to celebrate his life, and decided to combine their
Celebration of Life service together.

Al graduated from Elmira Free Academy and then proudly served the
US Army during the Korean War. He retired from New York
Telephone/Verizon Company after 37 years of service.

Marilyn and Al thoroughly enjoyed raising their family and were actively
involved in their children’s and grandchildren’s activities. They chaired
the Hardy School Carnival for 17 years. They were avid crafters and
created many beautiful items to sell at craft fairs. Al created the wood
crafts, and Marilyn enjoyed the tole painting. After their children were
grown, they enjoyed Bingo, camping, and playing games with family.
Marilyn and Al were long-time members of Pennsylvania Avenue
United Methodist Church.

Please join us for Marilyn and Al’s Celebration of Life service on
Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at Pennsylvania Avenue United Methodist
Church, 1238 Pennsylvania Avenue, Pine City, NY 14871. We will be
gathering at 4 PM with Service to begin at 5 PM. A private graveside
service will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by
Olthof Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to their
granddaughter’s memorial scholarship fund - Melissa B. Wilson

**Marilyn’s family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the
staff of Chemung County Nursing Facility for their loving care in her
final years, especially the care and compassion shown to Marilyn and
her family these last two weeks.
