Bower, Marguerite R. age 88, lifetime resident of Pine City, NY, widow of the late Walter L. Bower, who passed away on April 19th, 1997. Marguerite was blessed into peace Wednesday, May 22nd, 2002 at St. Joseph?s Hospital.Surviving Marguerite are her loving children; Joanne (Stephen) Eells of Stephens City, VA; Jeanne (James) Harvey of Bellefonte, PA; Janet (Ronald) McClure of Columbia Crossroads, PA; Judith (John) Wheeler of Jackson Summit, PA; John Bower of Horseheads, NY; ten grandchildren; John K. Bower, Jeffrey Bower, Jacqui Slawson, James P. Bower, John W. Wheeler, Jeffrey Wheeler, Jodi Perry, Jillane Brown, Darlene Dixon, Jessica Harvey;10 great grandchildren & several nieces and nephews.Marguerite is predeceased by her beloved husband, Walter L. Bower; mother Francis Brown; sister Marion Spearman; grandson Randy Dixon, and daughter-in-law Jeanette Bower. Family and close friends will be received at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY, Friday, May 24th, 2002 from 7:00PM to 9:00PM. Private Funeral Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Marguerite will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband Walter at St. Peter & Paul?s Cemetery. Marguerite was a community mainstay, she taught in one room schoolhouse No. 11 on Dutch Hill from which she retired in 1944. In 1945 she and her husband Walter together started the Bower Dairy in Pine City, until 1989. She was a member of the Pine City Grange, NYS Farm Bureau, and a communicant of St. Mary?s Church. She enjoyed crocheting and reading. Marguerite?s main interest in life was loving her family and giving them a safe and happy home. Memorials may be made to the charity of one?s choice.
